We are a progressive and emerging church of children and elders, families and singles, straight, gay and transgendered, life-long Christians, interfaith couples, seekers and doubters. Come, just as you are. We are expecting you.
Ash Wednesday 2/22/12
Lent begins on Wednesday, February 22nd Ash Wednesday.
The liturgical color for Lent is violet, just like Advent. Both are seasons for reflection and preparation. Lent leads us to Easter. It's the 40-day period that reminds us of the time Jesus spent in the wilderness preparing for his ministry. So if Lent is 40 days, why does it start 46 days from Easter? Simple: Sunday's don't count! That's because every Sunday is a celebration of the resurrection.
Join us on Ash Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall for a service that will include readings and music, the imposition of ashes, remembrance of baptism, and communion. It's a meaningful way to renew our spirits as we walk with one another and with the Christ toward Easter.
Bible Study Wednesdays
Bible study with Jill drew more people than fit comfortably in the library, so we've moved upstairs to room 202. The group decided they'd like to get to know David, so we'll be reading I Samuel (and then II Samuel) for the next few months. FYI, there is more information in the Bible about David than there is about ANY other person, including Jesus. Whether you're a Bible study veteran or newbie, plan to come every week, or would just like to drop in when you have time, YOU ARE WELCOME, so bring your favorite Bible and a sense of adventure!
